DETERMINE WHO YOU ARE NOW AND WHO YOU WANT TO BE:

WHAT ARE YOUR VALUES?

You can determine your values by your former actions when confronted with a problem or decision that you had to overcome or make. These are the times that your real values emerge, not just the ones you say you believe in. Look back on your own choices and determine your real values. If you have made mistakes and gone against your core values, identify those times and determine how you can make a different choice.

WHAT ARE YOUR SKILLS?

Even if you’re not currently an entrepreneur, you already have skills that you can put to use as an entrepreneur. Make a list of what you do today. Focus on the deliverables that you provide your employer without too much help from others. These are the skills that you have that should be the basis of your entrepreneurial venture.

WHAT ARE YOUR STRENGTHS?

You’ve heard the idea that you need to leverage your strengths but how do you even know what they are? Using one of the self-assessments mentioned above, you can find out what your strengths are. When you know them, try to be honest so that your results come out realistic. Take off your rose colored glasses so that you can determine your real strengths. Try asking five of your closest friends to tell you the truth about what your strengths are, and then if more than three of them say the same thing, believe them.

WHAT ARE YOUR WEAKNESSES?

While you can improve upon your weaknesses, you should first leverage your strengths, but it’s important to know your weaknesses and accept them. It’s still more important to appreciate your efforts, and to understand that the past is a good indicator of how you’ll act in the future. If you know for example that you’re always five minutes late, accept it, instead focus on something positive. That doesn’t mean you don’t work on this habit, but don’t focus on it instead of your strengths.

Only when you know who you really are, the good and the bad, will you be able to truly know yourself enough to be brutally honest about your strengths and weaknesses. It’s important because you cannot move forward if you aren’t honest. You don’t have to tell others, just tell yourself. It can help to know what the top traits of a successful entrepreneur are.

NOW LETS LOOK FURTHER INTO YOUR PERSONALITY TYPE

It all starts with being honest with yourself about who you are now. A great way to get to know you is to take the personality test as in a previous module. When you take it, whether it’s this one at 16 Personalities, or another one, it will help you get to know yourself. The key to taking these tests and getting helpful answers is to be completely honest. There is no right or wrong answer. But, the answers will give you a clear picture of who you are right now and where you can improve.

Everyone can be an entrepreneur if you want to be one. But, it’s possible you may have to let go of old ways of thinking and doing things. You may have to push your boundaries like you never have before, and for sure, you have to get over the idea that when you work, even if you’re not productive, you’re going to collect a pay check.

Entrepreneurs only get paid when they accept opportunities, involve themselves in innovation and create value for their audience.

 

That might seem overwhelming right now, especially if you’re accustomed to going to work Monday through Friday, going to tons of meetings, looking busy, and doing what you’re told and collecting a pay check at the end of the week all without having to push through a single boundary or challenge yourself in any way. But, take heart, you can do it, it’s in you. Developing your entrepreneurial mindset just takes learning to think and take action in a new way.

HOW TO RID YOURSELF OF NEGATIVE THOUGHTS

 

A positive attitude is one of the stepping-stones to success. Everyone has a negative thought occasionally and you may be able to counteract it with a positive thought. When negative thoughts fill your mind, it may be time to change your mindset. But, how do you do that?

 

 

The trick is to take control of your thinking. Frequently ask yourself,

“What am I thinking right now?”

 

Learn to recognize your negative thinking patterns and replace them with realistic, positive alternatives.

When a negative thought enters your mind, immediately replace it with a positive thought.

Negative thought: “I can’t believe that jerk cut in front of me!

Positive thought change: “I’m not rushed and in a hurry like that guy. He must be extremely stressed.”

 

Read inspirational, positive quotes and articles. Read about the lives of successful and happy people.

Do things you love. Do at least one thing every day that you enjoy doing.

Visualise your life, as you want it to be. Create a visual map.

 

When negative thoughts intrude, look at your map to remind you of what you want.

 

In the end, everyone has a negative thought occasionally. The trick is to recognise and replace them with positive thoughts immediately so you don’t dwell on the negative thoughts.

6. Be enthusiastic and excited in your daily activities. Enthusiasm is contagious. It draws others toyou. Force it when you don’t feel enthusiastic. Picture yourself being happy and excited. HOW TO COMMIT TO CHANGE

Change is healthy and necessary, and the fast-paced world in which we live is constantly changing. If we fail to adapt and commit to change, then we will fail to thrive in life. If you sit down and reflect honestly, you will probably observe that change is the only constant thing in our lives. It is imperative that we learn to adapt and commit to change. Here are a few ways to help you commit to change.


1: Define your commitment

First things first, define what type of change you want to commit to. If you do not know what you are committing to, then you will never be able to truly commit to change. Be clear and be honest while defining your commitment. Make a plan by defining why you are doing this and how are you going to do this. You can even use a notebook for this purpose.

Let’s use the example of fitness. If you do not like the condition your body is currently in, you might decide to change it. You must define why are you doing this; be as clear, honest and detailed as you can. Then draft a plan regarding the methods you are going to practice to achieve this, such as improving your eating habits and increasing your physical activity.

This will make you aware of what you are actually committing to and prepare yourself for the work ahead.

The second thing to improve commitment to change is to make sure you are not “faking the funk,”saying you want to change without participating in the effort. Commitment is an obligation that you cannot fulfill if you do not fully engage with it.

Motivation is not permanent; it requires revisiting and refreshing. Go back to your notebook where you defined your commitments. Re-read those reasons and plans that you wrote down while you were defining your commitments when you were powerfully motivated. This will reignite that spark. If your motivations have changed, draft your plan again and add some new reasons to the list.

5 WAYS TO GO DEEPER INTO THE SUBCONSCIOUS MIND

The subconscious mind is much more powerful than your conscious mind. It makes everything you say and do a part of your self-concept. That’s why it’s important what goes into it. To change your outlook you have to go deeper than your conscious thoughts. The good news is that the subconscious mind learns through repetition.

There are several ways you can go deeper in your subconscious mind.

Repeat your new beliefs or thought patterns every day. Repeat inspiring words. Choose affirmations like, “I love and respect myself.” or “I attract good things into my life.” Feed your subconscious mind only with what you desire.

Meditate. Meditation allows you to go deeper into your consciousness, slowing the brain pattern down to release stress, anger, anxiety, and even alertness. With practice, you can become an observer of your thoughts. Simply allow your thoughts to flow, not reacting to any of them in any way.

Let your creative side loose. Get creative and take up some form of artistic expression like painting or drawing, sculpture or decorating. Nurturing your creativity helps you to become more authentic and tune in to your subconscious self.

Trust your instincts. Your intuition is your connection to your subconscious mind. This is your gut feeling. Positive people have a strong sense of intuition.

Reprogram your subconscious mind using hypnosis. Hypnosis is the process of relaxing your brain waves so you are open to suggestions or reprogramming. Hypnosis can help you release negative thoughts that may have been instilled into your subconscious by society, yourself, or your upbringing.

There are other ways to access your subconscious mind as well such as energy psychology and brainwave entrainment.

In the end, I hope you have come to the realisation that despite your own efforts at changing your thoughts, you might need to access your subconscious mind and take steps to dig deeper into those negative thoughts holding you back.

RECOGNISING OPPORTUNITIES

You can probably look back over your life and see plenty of missed opportunities, both persona land business. But, how can you get better and knowing when a real opportunity is knocking on your door so that you don’t pass it by?

First, realise that no one is perfect. One opportunity that you pass up may not be the right opportunity for you. Passing by something that someone else turns into a success doesn’t make you a failure, but, you can learn from it. Write down the things you missed, so that next time you’ll get better.

Next, realise that you have to deal with what you have right now, not what you might have later.If you don’t have the funds to see something through, it’s the wrong opportunity for you. Choose something you can succeed at without putting obstacles in your way.

IDENTIFYING INNOVATION

Keeping abreast of your industry can help you identify innovation. If you purposely search for ideas, innovation and new technologies you’ll learn to identify them in advance. Take notes on your ideas, and then observe if you’re right or not. Over time you’ll learn that you know a lot more than you think.

A lot of successful people today missed out on innovation in the past, but they did not give up.Thomas Watson, president of IBM in 1943 said that there was a “world market for maybe five computers.” Boy, was he wrong. But did it stop IBM from being a successful business? No – todayIBM had a net income of over 14.7 Billion in 2015. That’s pretty successful.

So what if you missed out on something that turned out to be successful in the past? Learn from it, and then move on. You can train yourself to recognise innovation with practice.

CREATING VALUE

This is one of the most important aspects of your job as an entrepreneur. Create value for your audience. If they feel as if you heard them, and you create products and services that matter to them, that you also ensure they know about, you’ll be successful.
